Goodbye Betty

In 2003, while on the set of Coronation Street, I was offered a cameo in the Rovers. The only actor i spoke to was Betty Driver, one of Corrie's best loved actresses whose role as Betty Turpin had entertained millions for decades.
In the flesh she was just as charming, so when her character's death was announced in tonight's Corrie it was hard not to feel a little emotional.
For once it was clear how much losing one actress had affected the rest of the cast, young and old.
Cheers Betty. You were a legend.
